Retakes.io starts where a normal bomb round would usually get serious. The bomb is already sitting on the site, and both teams have to deal with the situation immediately. Three Terrorists are there to protect it, while four Counter-Terrorists come in from different spots around the area. There is no long economy phase to worry about. What matters is what happens in those next few seconds.
The Terrorists can spread out around the bomb and watch the likely entry points. A player who hears footsteps might need to call it out quickly, because the attackers can arrive from more than one direction. On the CT side, rushing in alone is usually asking for trouble. Getting a few teammates together first makes it easier to clear corners and deal with players hiding around the site.
Your Weapons Change From Round to Round
Instead of buying whatever you want with saved cash, Retakes.io gives you loadout cards during the freeze time. The choices are randomized, so you might find yourself with a pistol setup one round and a rifle or AWP setup in another. Some cards also include useful utility.
That choice can change how you approach the site. A smoke can hide a dangerous angle, and a flash can give the first player a chance to get through. If the attackers finally reach the bomb, they still need to keep the area clear while one teammate works on the defuse.
Twenty Seconds Can Feel Very Short
There is not much spare time in a retake. Rounds generally last around 20 to 40 seconds, so wasting several seconds can be enough to lose the whole thing. Terrorists need to keep the bomb protected without giving away easy kills, while CT players have to make their push count.
Once the bomb is defused, explodes, or everyone on one team is eliminated, the round ends. Then another one begins almost straight away. You pick another loadout and get thrown into another post-plant fight, which is what keeps Retakes.io moving so quickly.
